It was a post lunch discussion with my colleague, Snigdha when we were discussing about the well awaited India vs Pakistan match in CWC 2019. We were discussing what a big deal it is for pakistan to lose yet another CWC match against India.
The highest official of Pakistan, the Prime Minister Imran khan himself tweeted in the morning of the match day with guidelines and wishes for his team. She told me that he used some term Reru Katta for some players and I corrected her that the term must be Raillu Katta.
4/5 1. In order ro have a winning offensive strategy Sarfaraz must go in with specialist batsmen and bowlers because "Raillu Kattas" rarely perform under pressure - especially the intense kind that will be generated today. 2. Unless pitch is damp, Sarfaraz must win the toss & bat— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) June 16, 2019
When we used to play gully cricket in childhood and the number of players couldn't be split into two equal teams, we used to put a player common between both the teams and call that player a Raillu Katta. It is well known term in punjabi kids, on both the side of the border.
Roughly, Raillu katta means a person whose position is not fixed in either team. Literally speaking, the term katta implies buffalo's calf and the term Raillu katta literally means a calf whose breed is not known.
Later in the evening Shoaib Akhtar released a video on his personal youtube channel (you didn't knew ? it is fun - watch it now) and discussed who exactly was Imran Khan pointing out to as Raillu Kattas. Here is the latest video from his channelIt is another level of fun when your childhool gully slang is in headline titles of national news daily - https://indianexpress.com/raillu-kattas-in-pakistan-team/
